Departmental Expenses Cost Controller

Job Summary

The Departmental Expenses Cost Controller is the finance lead for the Departmental Expenses functions, including Engineering and Programme Management, across all reporting units within the business line. They are a key business partner to the different responsible cost center owners on all levels: Site, Business Line and Global functions.

To provide analysis, insight and control to the finance function that drive decision making, financial forecasting, and budgetting.
Provide partnering to functions within the area of responsibility to drive cost performance through the provision of robust financial information and by holding owners accountable for improving it.
Area of responsibility is > GBP 130 million of cost and > 1200 FTE (status budget 2024)

Job Responsibilities

• Provide business partnering to all departmental expenses functions across the business line Civil – provide insight, analysis and reporting according to their requirements, and support in interpreting and acting on financial data
• Monitoring financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.
• Reporting financial status by developing forecasts; reporting results; analyzing variances; developing improvements.
• Identifying, assessing and communicating risks and exposures and developing measures to effectively mitigate these on a timely basis.
• Collaborate with the different site finance teams of reporting units globally to ensure budgets and forecasts are properly reported and that this reflects the numbers that cost center owners have agreed upon.
• Ensure that accruals are made where needed and are properly reconciled
• Perform research to find opportunities to reduce expenses
• Adhere to all financial governance requirements and support internal and external audits as required
  

Job Qualifications

• Ability to work well in a fast-paced and collaborative team that is responsive and results-oriented.
• Experience with OneStream and TM1 modules to be able to pull data from systems for your analysis
• Must have advance excel skills for financial modeling
• Understanding of managing finance, accounting, budgeting, control, business analytics and reporting;
