purpose
As the director of risk management & internal control, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing our risk control framework. Your responsibilities include guiding enterprise risk management, implementing risk policies and guidelines, raising risk awareness, and critically assessing the outcomes of risk assessments and control testing. You will present comprehensive reports on all risk-related matters to the Board and external authorities as needed. As director of risk & control you’ll serve as a key member of our finance department. You report to our CFO and will have 1-2 (academic) direct reports.

You should be a credible business partner, capable of building and sustaining effective relationships at leadership levels within finance and across the entire citizenM organization.
key responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive risk management strategy. Keeping a pro-active view on all regulatory changes.
- Identify potential risks, assess their impact, and develop effective mitigation plans.
- Stay vigilant regarding industry trends and regulatory shifts, proactively addressing emerging risks.
- Establish and maintain a robust internal control framework, continually reviewing processes to identify and mitigate risks.
- Lead the development, review, and implementation of risk management tools and policies.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, driving improvements [SajM1] as needed.
- Build and lead the risk team, providing mentorship and guidance.
- Promote risk management awareness throughout citizenM while effectively managing partnerships.
- Cultivate a culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Prepare regular reports on risk and control matters for senior management and stakeholders.
- Communicate findings, recommendations, and progress to relevant departments.
qualifications / skills
- Msc in Finance / Accounting / Auditing & control / IT Control and RA / RE / CPA / MBA.
- Proven experience in risk management, compliance, or related fields.
- Hands on and keeps an eye on the big picture, with strong planning and organizational skills.
- Business and technology savvy, curious and proactive in the assessment and challenge of risks.
- Excellent communication skills, adept at engaging with stakeholders at various levels.
- Proven ability to challenge the status quo and drive appropriate changes.
- Commitment to the highest ethical standards.
- Managing and developing international teams in the NL and the US.
- Experience in hospitality is a plus.

- Voorschoten Support Office (The Netherlands). Hybrid working is possible, 2/3 days per week at the office. Not fully remote.
